Module purpose
OTU EO/IR-M is a configurable electro-optical and infrared subsystem whose architecture allows the sensor composition, optics, video interfaces and mechanical execution to be adapted to a specific integration task.
The module is part of a wider sensor system rather than a camera with one fixed set of components.
Configuration principle
EO/IR-M is based on a common mechanical and electronic architecture that permits different sensor-channel configurations.
Configuration takes account of:
- the required field of view;
- sensor-channel type;
- optical execution;
- video signal requirements;
- control method;
- mechanical and electrical constraints of the platform.
Possible configurations include visible and infrared channels, whose composition is defined for each execution.
Mass by mechanical execution
EO/IR-M mass depends on its execution: 200 g without a housing, 320 g with a plastic housing, and 480 g with a metal housing. These values do not describe the mass of every possible configuration.
Subsystem architecture
The general functional sequence is:
- Sensor core.
- Optics and field of view.
- Video and processing.
- Host interface.
Specific video interfaces, processing functions, power supply and controls are defined during configuration.
Integration context
EO/IR-M belongs to the integrated system's sensor layer.
The module may be considered for architectures of unmanned ground and aerial platforms, vehicles and other carriers according to their technical constraints.
These directions describe possible integration contexts, not a list of confirmed OTU installations.
During integration design, the module's location, video signal, control, power supply, mechanical execution and interaction with the onboard system are defined.
Configuration boundaries
The parameters of a particular execution depend on its components and technical verification.
Describing the architecture does not mean that all possible configurations share the same specifications or have been tested on every platform type.
Discuss an integration task
For an initial assessment, specify the carrier type, required sensor channels, field of view and interface constraints.
